HTML

HTML

I have recently used a program known as Dreamweaver to make a "website" domain that I created with HTML code. The whole process was not all that exciting, because of the simplicity of the project, but if we did more with HTML and Dreamweaver, I would have enjoyed the project more.
Using Dreamweaver was an interesting and compelling experience that helped me further understand HTML. I was already somewhat familiar with HTML, but I learned how Dreamweaver makes new things possible in HTML like the ease of adding new strings of information and different images. I still had difficulty learning all of the controls associated with Dreamweaver, and would like to learn more about the controls.

The way HTML operates is similar to Java and Python, but I had difficulty adjusting to a new language of code. Dreamweaver is a little difficult to get used to because it does not use true coding, but i am still excited to try Web Design.

Photoshop Projects 1-4

Photoshop Projects

Project #1
This project required overlapping layers with differing opacity, which allowed for a nice looking blended photo. I learned about the process taken to combine separate pictures as one to make something different, that stands out to the viewer.
Project #2
In this project, creating the fluttering effect to the wings was somewhat difficult, but testing with certain tools created a great illusion of dynamic wings. The colors took a while to finish, but the tools used in Photoshop made the process pretty simple.
Project #3
For this project, using the text mask tool was a great addition to the background. I got to experiment with lighting, brightness, and saturation, and see how that affected the overall look and feel of the picture. The gradient represents Northwest well, and looks visually appealing.
Project #4
This project made an interesting product by using multiple layers of watermarks to create a great collage representing ONW. Getting rid of the light posts and cars were somewhat difficult, but I learned the important skill of editing to take out certain pieces to improve the picture.

My Logo

Over the duration of this project many problems arose that required correction. Over many days the product was refined and altered so it would stand out. When using the computer software, all of the shortcut keys were crucial to success like command F, D, and Z. My friends assisted in coming up with a perfect design and the final product would not have turned out as well without their input.

When creating my logo, I made sure to use certain colors to convey a message to my viewers. I chose to use the two colors orange and blue to symbolize friendliness and trust, because my logo is for Josh's Gum ball Factory, which is centered for families. I tried to use a fun looking font and a circle representing a gum ball, and to show the wholesome feel of the company. I used the gradient fill on the circle to allow the illusion of a three dimensional gum ball. I put into consideration how the logo shouldn't be too complicated, and I pictured what the logo would look like on packages and bags so I can see what the viewer would think when they saw it in multiple forms. I thought that the font, having rounded edges and a welcoming essence would invade families to visit and feel wanted with this logo.

Orthogonal Cube

So far I have enjoyed being in E-Commununication, video and graphic design. I have learned many important skills when filming with video and the basics of color and what companies use in their logos to appeal to their viewers. I think even though creating projects alone is progressive,  talking with others and listening to their ideas is important input on how your project will turn out. Working with people every day is required, having input from all different people, critiquing your work so you can make changes to your work to make it the best it can be.

So far I have learned about text, logos, gradients, color psychology and  have become familiar with illustrator. I am excited to learn more about graphic design in the future, and hope to retain my skills throughout the rest of my life. Once I am finished with graphic design, I don't think I will go into a career directly related to the skills Im learning now, but I will find these skills useful later if I use a Macintosh.

My Type

When I took the font test, I found that there are many different fonts, all that contain different curves, lines, or shapes that can be incorporated.  I am rational, assertive, progressive, and disciplined which plays into what font fits me. My font is mysterious and may be difficult for some to understand, which is very accurate relating to my life. I am unknown and sometimes hard to understand but I am presented here, for people to decipher me in this world, and looking in wonder at what really lies beneath.

Color Wheel

I learned about the different colors and what they represent. Red shows power, excitement, or love. Green means peaceful, serene, and simplistic. One of the shampoos I sketched was purple, which is creative and fun. The different colors influence different viewers and are intended for separate audiences. The designers of these logos and bottle designs must be thinking of what will be most appealing to the target audience.

What is Graphic Design?

Graphic Design is a way to communicate something to people in a creative way. Displays human behavior and includes words and images. Graphic design is used everywhere all the time. The picture made needs to communicate the idea of the product or service accurately. Think of all possibilities in all ways to express an idea to the viewer and don't think of just 1 idea and go for it. Explore numerous ways to create an emotion within the viewer when exposed to your product.

The Interview

During this course I learned many useful things including how to edit correctly, use shortcut keys including the spacebar that pauses and plays the video, shift z that allows you to see your whole video in the viewer,  J, K, and L which rewind, pause, and fast forward, and control I that sends your video out as a master file, which you can then use to upload to Youtube and Blogger. I learned that working with a camera takes time and people don't always agree on the same thing, which forces you to alter ideas and thoughts. I might stay in video development but I will have to see if I enjoy animation, graphic design and web design. I am happy that I found out about Final Cut Pro. It is a great tool to use when editing and I hope to get it for my personal use, but it is $300! Overall, I enjoyed my experience in video and might continue in the video strand, and I learned about Final Cut Pro and many shortcut keys and hope to use these skills later as I progress in my life.

The Chase

In this project I learned how getting many different shots of the same action really adds to the overall interest of the viewer, and learned that time management is a necessity, especially when working with other people. I will try to work faster without reducing the quality of my work, and hope to use communication to improve my video drastically. Collaboration was a little different due to the increase in individuals involved. With 3 people came more ideas, and a little conflict! I believe in the next project my group should try to compromise and listen to each others' ideas to see if we can incorporate what is best for the video. I hope to keep making more videos, because the whole editing and filming process is awesome! You get to talk with other people and work together to achieve a common goal, which is a lot of fun to do.

AB Sequence

Over the duration of this assignment, I learned the importance of stressing the flow of your video, from scene to scene. I also learned how to slow down or speed up the video to make for a more dramatic effect. I learned the shortcut of shift z and it was very helpful to my project. You need to make sure all of the scenes look together and move smoothly from one shot to the next. I will ensure that my future projects move in a fluid motion, trying to make minimal or no jump cuts. Collaboration was extremely important to this project, because of the length, time, and roles needed to complete this assignment. With 2 people, you can have one person shoot the video, another person act. I will use collaboration later to be more effective I'm my video making, and hope to continue making awesome creations!

E-Comm Hour 1 Basketball

Sequence

  1. Extra Close Up Shot-A filming distance where the object takes up the whole frame.
  2. Close Up Shot-A shot where you can see only a person's head and shoulders.
  3. Medium Shot-A person's waist up is shown, along with whatever they are holding.
  4. Over The Shoulder-Film as if you are looking over the person as they are doing an action, with what they are doing in view.
  5. Wide Shot-A shot that includes all of the person, but doesn't show the whole scene.
  6. Extra Wide Shot-A shot where the whole scene is included.

I enjoyed learning more about Final Cut Pro and working with the new cameras. I found new ways to cut and put together video clips. I used new transitions, and had fun using the free music from ISM Films. I have learned how to publish, export, and sequence shots with the editing software. I enjoyed the simplicity but effective 6-shot sequence.
I will use the 6-shot sequence later and the cutting of different video clips.

My Personality Type

My Personality Type

My personality type was calculated to be an ISTJ, which is a quiet, serious, but dependable person. It says that I am responsible and work hard while staying organized. I was 1% away from being an INTJ, that is described as the scientist personality. INTJs are very independent individual who is extremely analytical, constantly studying the world around them. I have the same personality types as Isaac Newton, Steven Hawking, George Washington and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

I feel that both personality types fit me well, but INTJ describes me better than ISTJ. I'm not very traditional, and don't like to do things by the book as much. I enjoy experimenting and researching new ideas about the world. My personality type fits how I interact with others. I am quiet and study people, not speaking as much  as others would. I do not enjoy being in a large group of people, just a few friends here and there. I work hard and try to be perfect, and sometimes I would describe myself as a perfectionist.

When on a team, I tend to be the one who comes up with good ideas and finds answers easily. I have to initiate all chores around the house and make sure my siblings help me get them done. I take the lead when needed, and get the job done as quickly and efficiently as I can. People will perceive me as quiet and boring, but I am just unsure of strangers and tend to watch how they act to assume their personality

Highlight Video Racquetball

------------------------------------------------Racquetball-----------------------------------------------------

When creating this video, I got to use a great software through school called Final Cut Pro, which allows you to take all types of videos and put them together to create an amazing movie, adding music, transitions, and effects! I chose to create a Racquetball montage to demonstrate how much I enjoy playing Racquetball with my friends and family. I have been playing for about two years now, just for fun. I would like to enter a competitive Racquetball Tournament, but I'm not as skilled as others. I don't take lessons or classes, but I still enjoy the simplicity and quickness of the game. My family has bonded by playing Racquetball, and hope to continue getting involved in Racquetball. I believe that Racquetball is one of the more rigorous, fast-paced games that take a lot of effort. If you play against a skilled opponent it becomes apparent that you must work hard to stay in the game!
